Remember eight track cassettes? If you’re old enough, you’ll remember they were prevalent in the mid-1960s to the late 1970s, or the mini-cassettes that replaced them. Today if you buy a car and want to listen to your own music, you can plug in or Bluetooth your music files from your phone.

Back in 2014 the number of people who access the web with mobile devices surpassed the number who use laptop or desktop computers. Which means if your site isn’t mobile friendly it’s becoming as outdated as an 8 track cassette, and you’re missing the majority of potential patients looking for you.

Google has already started penalizing sites that are so old school they aren’t mobile friendly. Which means if you have a non-mobile friendly site your search engine rankings will continue to drop.
Google announced on the Webmaster blog that they are going to be boosting the effects of the mobile-friendly algorithm they launched back on April 21, 2015. If you are already mobile-friendly, you do not have to worry, because “you will not be impacted by this update.”
The mobile-friendly algorithm is a page-by-page signal, so it can take time for Google to assess each page, and that may be why it will be a gradual rollout. And depending on how fast Google crawls and indexes all of the pages on your site, the impact can be slow to show up.
